With our recent move I was searching for the perfect flower arrangement to add a pop of color to our new kitchen, to the point that I almost bought an infinity rose bouquet. That was until I stumbled into our local Trader Joes and they had the prettiest cut hydrangeas, so give me all the white hydrangea please. I pared them with yellow tulips, some greenery and fresh lemons and I absolutely loved it. Then I woke up the next morning to find that half of them had began to wilt despite sitting in water. I almost threw but then my mother-on-love told me how to revive hydrangeas.
This method will shock the wilted hydrangea, waking them up in a sense and totally bring them back to life. You can also do this as soon as you bring your cut hydrangeas home. This should prevent them from wilting in the first place.
Another tip on how to revive hydrangeas (or keep cut hydrangeas fresh) is adding the spice Alum to your vase water. I haven’t tried this myself, so if you have please let me know if it works.
