You guys, ITS’ BABY WEEK!! Before I sprint out the door to the hospital (yes, I plan to run all the way there LOL), I wanted to share whats in my Bow & Rattle diaper bag. The likelihood that I’ll need any of this from the hospital to home is slim to none but I wanted to pack it anyway. Here’s what I have inside:
Diapers: think one for every hour or so that you’ll be away from home. I’m also that mom that keeps a few extra in the trunk because life and accidents happen. Stay ready!
Wipes: I use a refillable travel pack; they are lightweight and easy to care. No one has time to be toting that big tub around.
Diaper Cream: A&D Ointment to protect their little bums. Vaseline for newly circumcised baby boys.
Changing Pad: Your bag may or may not come with one. If you don’t like the size that comes with it, you can always purchase one separately.
Poop Bags: I actually use dog poop bags to store dirty diapers while we’re out. They basically serve the same purpose but you get more bang for your buck.
Nursing Cover: because boobs are life and I will feed my baby in public regardless of who is around. My short term goal is to exclusively nurse for the first 4 weeks so I will not pack spare bottles until I have a good supply established.
**Side note: If you formula feed pre-fill the bottles with the specified water amount and use the little container that allows you to pre-portion formula. Then when its time to feed you can just pop the lid off, add the formula and shake.**
Burp Cloths: A good 100 should do! LOL
Change of Clothes: Between spit up and blow outs they change like a million time a day so again, stay ready.
Light Blanket: this is weather dependent because you may actually need a heavy blanket. Even if you’re planning to be somewhere indoors it could still be too chilly for the baby. Pack a blanket.
Nasal Aspirator: stuffy nose? Clearing an airway? You name it! I never leave home without one. (PS. the Nose Frida is amazing)
Pacifier: the jury is still out on this one BUT I packed one anyway.
Bonus Items for Mom:-Any purse necessities (chap stick, dental floss, etc…)-Wallet (I personally use a wallet phone case)-Water Bottle-Spare Shirt-Nursing Pads-Baby Lotion (for the baby and your hands)-Maxi Pads (during those first few weeks)
You don’t need your entire nursery with you, so pack light #baglady. LOL What were some items that you had to keep in your diaper bag?
