When preparing for a new baby it can be super tempting to buy/register for everything in the baby section. Car seat, clothes, toys, swings, diapers, stroller, high chair… you overwhelmed yet? Don’t worry because you are not alone! I just had my third baby and prepping for Luke’s arrival was still overwhelming because there are so many products out there. Today, I’ve teamed up with Walmart to share 5 essential items that help me survive life with Luke. Most importantly, these items are budget friendly and won’t break the bank. I know what it’s like to be a new mom trying to figure out what to buy or register for, so I hope this gives you a good head start.
Diapering
Nine years in the mommy game and there isn’t a diaper I love more than Pampers® Swaddlers. Babies are in diapers all day and Pampers Swaddlers are the only thing I want that close to my sweet babe. I love the new heart quilts liner that is 2x softer against Luke’s delicate skin. The wetness indicator telling you when your baby needs a new diaper is a game changer, no second guessing what you feel or think you smell.
Nursing
Even though this is my third baby, breastfeeding is no easy feat. Before we left the hospital the lactation consultant suggested picking up Milkmakers® Chocolate Chip Lactation Cookie Bites to have at home. I’m so glad that I did, returning to work obviously meant that I was spending less time with Luke. Naturally, that triggered a huge drop in my milk supply. Having Milkmakers Lactation Cookie Bites readily available allowed me to be able to react quickly. Their key ingredients helped get my supply back to where I needed it to be. Besides who doesn’t love an excuse to eat cookies?
Sleeping
Luke has an awful startle reflex, in fact most babies do. We tried the traditional swaddling methods using a blanket and he would break out of them every time. The Summer Infant® SwaddleMe® has saved me from having to hold him while he sleeps, so I can sleep too. The SwaddleMe has a secure design that creates a cozy womb-like feeling and prevents startle reflex from waking your baby.
Bathing
Does anyone love a good smelling baby as much as I do? I just love to snuggle and smell Luke after he’s had a bath with his Johnson’s® Cottontouch Newborn Baby Wash & Shampoo. Their new formula is ultra-light and gentle for newborn skin. Dye free, sulfate free, worry free. Did I mention that it smells like a small piece of heaven?
Traveling
We ended up needing a second car seat for our nanny and the Evenflo® Advanced SensorSafe LiteMax was the obvious choice. The seat is extremely lightweight and easy to carry. I love that the handle was made with comfort in mind, as it’s easily carried in the bend of the arm.
To keep it simple, if you have the necessities for your baby to eat, sleep and poop and safely ride in a car while doing all of those, then you’re good to go!
With Luke’s gender being a surprise, we did the majority of our baby shopping after he was born. Have you ever tried shopping with a newborn? It’s nearly impossible! Not to mention little James and Zoe reaching for something at the turn of every aisle, so I just stopped taking them inside the store. Yes, you read that correctly, my kids don’t go inside the grocery store and neither do I thanks to Walmart’s Online Grocery Pick Up.
You simply go online to order all of your groceries for the week, a few household items, and your baby essentials all at once and pick them up from your local store. You save time and money because they will place your items inside your car at no additional cost. If you’re huge on pre-planning, you can order up to six days in advance. It’s basically like having a personal assistant that grocery shops for you! That’s the hugest of mom wins!
