I’ve been dreaming about the perfect fall shot of my babies. I decided to do stage a fall family photoshoot with the kids last weekend and realized that it was so much easier to take pictures of the kids before Lukey started walking. Now every time we pull out the camera he gets busy exploring the world around him.
1. GO OUTSIDE. Literally go outside, lol. That’s it! Besides, nothing beats natural light.
2. WEAR AUTUMN COLORS. Mustard, burgundy’s, plums and deep oranges always work.
3. ADD A PUMPKIN OR THREE. You can even go to a local park, the pumpkin patch or even thefarmers market and they will likely have backdrops ready and waiting.
4. LET THEM BE THEMSELVES. Zoe will always pose and smile. Little James cooperates depending on the day and Luke is just all over the place. Forcing them to stand, sit or pose in a certain manner might result in frowns and fussiness. Let them do their thing and just snap away. I personally think that the candid shots are cuter.
Unlike Christmas/holiday pictures, you don’t need a lot to make fall photos happen and you get to take advantage of being outdoors without extreme temps. Have you ever attempted to DIY fall photos for your family? If you try after reading this, make sure to tag me on social media @herlifesparkles so that I can see them.
If you are thinking of something more formal for your family pictures, make sure to check out my previous post on planning and styling a family photoshoot.
PS. The first photo is an iPhone picture and the others were taken on our Fuji Film but with the right editing you can hardly notice a difference. If you want more details about my photography tools and editing process, let me know in the comments. Wish me luck on trying to catch the perfect fall shot with all three of my brats looking at the camera. Happy Fall Yall. 💛
