Date your spouse. Go on a stay-cation! I think that’s one of the most common pieces of marriage advice given to us. Date. Your. Spouse. Sounds easy right? Wrong!!!
During the week James works on the opposite side of the country. That means I have to balance having a full-time job of my own, two children, a puppy son, an awful work commute, summer body goals, after school activities, laundry, cooking, cleaning and finding time to blog . Exhausting right? By the time the weekend rolls around I just want to cuddle on the couch with everyone and watch movies because dates mean we would have to leave the house. Dates mean we would have to leave the kids at home. The same kids who haven’t seen him all week. The same kids that miss him just as much as I do. Most of the time the thought of a date night seems pretty selfish to me, so we just do family outings. #MomGuilt
Then we have those moments where a little selfishness is necessary and this past weekend it was an absolute must. I needed my man to myself AND some interrupted sleep! So we left the kids with their grandparents and headed downtown for a kid free weekend.
We opted to stay at Hotel Crescent Court and though it was beautiful, I don’t think we will visit again. There were a few mishaps that took away from the experience of our stay. First they placed us in a standard room instead of the 2 story loft suite that we booked. Once we moved to the loft suite it was super dope BUT the wifi and tv’s didn’t work. We finally moved to a third room that wasn’t a loft but still very nice suite, so I settled for that. I really wasn’t interested in moving any more because this queen needed to get ready to visit Wakanda! ?
LOOK Cinemas is easily one of my favorite theaters in Dallas. They have super comfy seating paired with upscale food and drink options. I’m soooooooo glad that Black Panther lived up to the hype! #WakandaForever
The next morning at the hotel we were awakened by the sound of drilling and construction work. ? We were initially told that they weren’t renovating the side of the hotel we were staying in. Needless to say it was time to go! To be fair they were super apologetic and willing to assist whenever we reported a problem. They even comped a portion of our bill but we still decided not to stay a 2nd night.
Before heading over to our next hotel we stopped for brunch at Yolk and the food was Ah-Maze-Ing!
James had their red velvet and cream cheese french toast, while I had the cinnamon roll french toast. However, the real mvp of our dining experience was their South Beach Parfait. It’s half a pineapple stuffed with diced pineapple, strawberries, almond granola, walnuts and house greek yogurt. It was so yummy! ? If you’re ever in the city, it’s a must try.
After we were fat and full we checked into our suite at the Ritz Carlton Dallas and headed down to the spa for a much needed couples massage. Afterwards we lounged around and enjoyed some of the other spa amenities too. Their steam room followed by an exfoliating body scrub makes for soft, extra glowy skin.
If you ever stay at the Ritz then club level access is the way to go. You’ll have access to an open bar along with five food presentations daily, including breakfast, lunch, mid-day snacks, hors d’oeuvres, and hand-crafted desserts. I’m normally not a fan of “all inclusive” dining experiences but everything we tried was delicious!
Even though the hotel provided dinner we opted to dine out because of our dietary restrictions. Of course I had to have a mini photo shoot next to their entry table. Their flower arrangements are simply breath taking.
For dinner we visited Avanti Dallas and the food was delectable. My only regret is not taking a picture before cleaning my plate. Their Yellow Fin Tuna Steak was perfectly seared and served over a bed of sautéed spinach, garlic mash and a delicious ginger sauce. Simply delicious!
We finished our evening by grabbing dessert and drinks from the club lounge back at the hotel. I grabbed all the cookies my arms could hold and we headed back to our room for some good ol’ #NetflixAndChill. I cannot tell you how good it feels to sleep without Zoe kicking me in the face! #ParentWin
We had fun just being together and laughing at inappropriate things without having to watch out for tiny ears. What’s your favorite way to spend time with bae?! Check out more travel content!
