I love love love being able to spend more time with my babies during school breaks/holidays but it’s like they have a secret competition to see who can eat the most food. I always want to sneak and spy on them during the school day to see if they are asking for food & snacks the same way they do at home. With spring break approaching and no travel plans I felt a desperate need to make sure both my fridge and pantry were ready for my greedy little monsters.
Instead of finding time to lug all three of the kids to the store I decided to let my personal assistant do the shopping for me. Kidding! I don’t have a personal assistant but with using Shipt grocery delivery it’s basically the same thing. What I love most about Shipt that that through them two of my favorite stores (Target & Kroger) now deliver right to my front door!
Here’s my short list of things you may need to survive spring break at home:
Paper Products: Cups, plates, napkins, etc… to minimize dishes.
Food: Snacks on snacks on snacks. Quick foods like french fries, chicken nuggets, pb&j. *side note* I’m 32 and there’s is nothing like a good pb&j. Especially when you have a kid old enough to make one for you. LOL
Drinks: Water, juice boxes, milk, sports drinks, fruit juice…just all the drinks.
Food Storage: Ziplock bags, snack containers, leak proof tumblers, water bottles and anything else you can think of for taking food on the go.
Outdoor Prep: sun screen, bug spray, etc…
Rainy Day Backup: Construction paper, coloring books, crayons, glue, straws, pipe cleaners, play dough, and anything else you can think of to do crafts.
I know you’re wondering how you can order paper products and crayons through grocery deliver but Shipt doesn’t restrict you to only ordering food. You can order just about anything. I once ordered a swaddle and bibs for Luke giving the store sku and accurate description and my shopper happily picked them up for me! Now that you’re ready to place an order, here’s how Shipt works:
1. Create an account using the website or app. I’m partial to the app because my phone is always with me.
2. Choose a membership plan (they have both annual and month to month options).
3. Choose the store you want to shop from. In my area I have a choice between Target, Kroger and CVS.
4. Add all of the things to your cart. Make sure your order is at least $35 to qualify for free delivery.
5. Chose your delivery window, typically available within the next hour and then complete your order.
6. Wait for your shopper to confirm that they’ve started your order and keep your phone near by in case they need to check with you for substitutions.
7. That’s it! Your Shipt shopper will let you know when they’re on the way to your home.
I’ve been using Shipt since August of last year but my experience this week was the absolute best. I placed an order for delivery from Target. My shopper let me know that she was starting my order and asked me if I needed anything else. I realized that I had forgot to add paper plates and asked her to grab those as well. She happily obliged.
Then she sent a follow up text stating that the location she was shopping was out of a few of the items I requested, so she was going to go across town to the other location. It would’ve been so easy for her to mark those items out of stock and move on with fulfilling the rest of my order. Which would’ve meant me placing a second order or just going to the store myself. Customer service seems like a thing of the past nowadays and I cannot believe she went above and beyond for me like this! Of course I thanked her repeatedly when she got to the house and made sure to leave her a good review and tip!
I’m busy! …said every mom ever. No really, most days I feel like I’m burning the candle at both ends. Working a 9-5, blogging pretty much full time and keeping up with all 3 kids during the week when James is away, leaves my plate super full. There is nothing that I can appreciate more than ways to make my life easier. Shipt has definitely been that for me. Additionally, I work in the service industry and I have since I pretty much joined the work force. For that very reason it’s not easy to wow me with customer service and after my experience Monday, Shipt has a customer in me for life!
If you are ready to have your own personal assistant, give Shipt a try today. You won’t regret it! Use my link and get $50 of a membership when you sign up. HAPPY SHOPPING!!
